AAP issues guidelines on fluoride therapy for children

Children should receive fluoride treatments starting from 6 months of age or when their teeth are visible until they are 5 years old, according to guidelines released by the AAP. Parents are advised to clean children’s teeth with a smear of toothpaste up to age 3 and to use a pea-sized amount of toothpaste when they are between ages 3 and 6.
